(Spiritualistic view)
A few days back, I attended a lecture cum conference event. The topic of event was “How to manage HR in new business ventures?”. Listening to this lecture, I was in disagreement with this approach. The HR person talked about a hidden tests for evaluating the “flexibility” and dedication.
Like if the job seeker lived in Andheri locality of Mumbai, he would be called to a far place like Chembur for interview session. (Mumbai localities started popping in my mind. Juhu, Kandiwali, Malad, Goregaon, Saien, Kurla, Bandra.. Yeah! I have been to Bombay twice). I totally disagree with the vision being put forward through the lecture. I think the HR person was just making the life harder for job seeker and unknowingly was satisfying his hunger for human manipulation. I am of view that Human Resource should be channelized on lines of connecting with people and showing them greater vision/path of better life according to their skills, rather than putting them into “Fear Factor” or “Save Me From this Jungle” kind of games to earn money. In my view, HR person was doing the same thing. I am of view that, human resource management is part and parcel of social society and socialism thrives on it. Human Resource is realized truly in sense of social integration. You spread goodness you will receive goodness in return. You lend help and it will reach you first. These are best fundamentals of human resource engineering. How does Great Kings of India and pharaohs of Egypt managed human resource? They build forts, tombs and temples and this way they provided employment to the citizens. They made them earn the ration and this was an essential part of governance. To engage the farmer in food/grains production, the blacksmith to make tools for the farmer and weapons for soldiers, the soldiers to guard the life and property, the ministers to manage state affairs was human resource management. Same approach is valid today. Ask and evaluate the skills of job seekers and channelize them to the appropriate vacant jobs is the religion of HR agency.
My poem “Zindagi Manzilon ka Safar” written way back in 1996 expresses spiritualistic views on “Human Resource”. A part of which is here…
