Moderate earthquake strikes off Indonesia

JAKARTA: A moderate 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia’s Sumatra island on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued, seismologists said. The quake struck at 2:08 am (1908 GMT Tuesday), 269 kilometres west of Banda Aceh at a depth of approximately 1.6 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.
