January 15, 2009 · A US regional Airways plane crash landed into the frigid cold waters of Hudson River on Thursday afternoon. There were more than 150 passengers on board. All the passengers were safely rescued by boats. All passengers were reported to be safe. There are reports that some passengers are under treatment for hypothermia.

According to US news media it was not clear why the pilot did not land at Teterboro. Church said there was no mayday call from the plane’s transponder. The plane splashed into the water off roughly 48th Street in midtown Manhattan – one of the busiest and most closely watched stretches of the river.
