Slight intensity earthquake rocks Jaipur

New Delhi, Oct 29(PTI) An earthquake of slight intensity hit Jaipur this evening, ministry of earth sciences said. According to the preliminary earthquake report released by the ministry of earth sciences, an earthquake of slight intensity measuring 2.3 on the Richter Scale hit Jaipur, with its epicentre located at 26.9 degree north latitude and 76.0 degree east longitude. The earthquake hit the city at 1936 hours, the report said.

Two earthquakes jolt Kashmir valley

Srinagar, Oct 30(PTI) Two earthquakes hit the Kashmir valley late last night and this morning, a spokesman of the state disaster management said.A strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale hit Srinagar at 11.14 PM last night, which was followed by a moderate tremor measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolting the Kashmir Valley this morning at around 11.43 AM. However, no casualty was reported, he said.

Quake kills livestock, topples 1000 houses in China

HUNDREDS of livestock have been killed and thousands of people evacuated after a moderate earthquake hit southwest China. The quake, according to Agence France Presse (AFP), also injured 28 people and toppled more than 1,000 houses. The 4.9-magnitude quake hit Yunnan province early yesterday morning not far from popular tourist destination Dali, striking at a depth of 35 kilometres (22 miles), the United States (U.S.) Geological Survey said on its website.

Moderate quake strikes off Andaman Islands

PORT BLAIR – A moderate earthquake struck north of India’s remote Andaman Islands early Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, with no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The 5.4-magnitude quake hit at 3:35 a.m. (2135 GMT Monday) at a depth of 32 kilometers (21 miles).

Moderate quake hits northern Japan

Tokyo, Nov 4 (AFP) A moderate, 5.5 magnitude offshore earthquake hit southern Japan today, the US Geological Survey said, although there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage and no tsunami alert was issued.
